With Sympathy

It is never easy to create a sympathy card... Unfortunately, I needed one to send to a dear friend who just lost her husband. Since Wayne enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish and hunt, I thought the tree stamp from the SU! Forest Friends would work to create a card in Wayne's memory. I hope it brings comfort to my friend, Joan.

S2GSC23 - Paint the Town RED!

Welcome! It's time for another Twisted Thursday sketch with a twist. This week's twist is to Paint the Town RED! It's easy to play along with us:
  • Just make a card following today's sketch and use red as the main color on your creation! (You are not required to use S2G stamps, but we would love to see them if you have them!)
  • Post your card to your blog/online gallery. Then go to the S2G Challenge Blog and post a direct link to your card using Mr. Linky. (Use keywords S2GSC23 and shirleys2girls.)
  • You have a whole week to submit a card; deadline for submission is Wednesday, Sept. 2, at midnight.
Besides clear art stamps, did you know that Shirley's 2 Girls also sells both digital images as well as digital papers? The best part is that the whole line of stamps, digi images and digi paper can be mixed and matched!
For my card, I used a sheet of digi paper from the S2G Spring Fancies line (DGP1) for my background. Since this week's twist was to use red as the main color, I gave Photoshop a try at changing the original colors of my digi paper to red and presto it worked... instant matching paper in the colors I needed! What a great advantage of digital papers!!
For my main image, I used a whimsical S2G digi image called View (DG12). I also used another S2G digi image, Come Fly with Me (DG48), to make my embellishment. What a fun card to make. Sure hope you share in the fun and give this challenge a try! Have a great day!!
Supplies: Stamps - S2G digital images View (DG12) and Come Fly with Me (DG48); Paper - S2G Spring Fancies digi digi papers (DGP1), SU! basic black, PTI select white, generic white base, a scrap of MM gingham DP; Ink - Copic markers; Accessories - Flower Soft, Recollections black epoxy stickers, goggly eye, silver rhinestone, Staples key tag, and gingham ribbon from Mikes.

S2GSC22 - Twisted Thursday!

It's time for another Twisted Thursday sketch with a twist! This week's twist is to punch it! It's easy to play along with us:
  • Just make a card following today's sketch and add something to your card made with a punch. (You are not required to use S2G stamps, but we would love to see them if you have them!)

For my sample this week I used the S2G Sunflower digi image (DG17). I love this image and have really become a fan of digi stamps. They are a big time saver when mass producing cards. Celebrating 50 Years of Marriage

My friend, Diane, asked if I could come up with something for a 50th wedding anniversary. Since the happy couple are celebrating this momentous occasion with a trip to Hawaii, Diane wanted the card to have a colorful, Hawaiian theme.
So I had to forget about using white and gold and break out the palm trees. Unfortunately, my only stamp with a palm tree has a monkey hanging from it, and the sentiment reads, 'hang in there'! (LOL!)
This time I had an excuse to go shopping at my LSS! I found a pack of Me and My Big Ideas DP and some Jolee's embellishments that would work, and even got a box of tri-fold cards on clearance. Boy, I was surprised with how easily everything went together once I got home.
First, I resized and embossed my card with the new SU! Finial EF. Then I adhered the embellishments and DP. The only thing left to do was cut out and glitter the numbers before adding them to the card's opening, and this card was a wrap!
Supplies: Stamps - none; Paper - me & my Big ideas - Destination Paradise, SU! Pink Pirouette, K&Co. card base; Jolee's Boutique embellishments, Cuttlebug machine, Cuttlebug number dies, SU! Finial EF, glitter, Xyron.
Hope your weekend is super fun. I really appreciate your stopping by!

LS232, SC240 I'm Hungry!

Happy Friday, everyone! For my card today, I combined two SCS challenges --this week's sketch, SC240, with today's LSC232 -- make a card with food and limit the colors to 'food colors' such as barely banana. For my food, I chose the ice cream sundae image from the Gina K Designs set called How Sweet It Is! For my food colors, I used barley banana, chocolate chip and crushed curry (although technically a spice, I considered it food since it is something we eat.). Hope the food police don't come after me! I also used close to cocoa for sponging around my image. Hope you like what I came up with, and thanks for stopping by today. Enjoy your weekend! Supplies: Stamps - How sweet it is! by Gina K. Designs!; Paper - SU! barley banana, chocolate chip, crushed curry, and Patterns DSP in crushed curry, PTI select white, generic white base; Ink - Adirondack pitch black, SU! close to cocoa for sponging; Accessories - dew drops, various Marvy punches, dimensionals, Nesties scallop circle die and Copic markers for coloring.

TECC76 It's Your Day!

Where did July go? My August birthdays are fast approaching so I made a birthday card for my stash, using Taylor's Cupcake Challenge sketch #76. What a great sketch!
Now about my card... I just received my SU! order and couldn't wait to try the new Crushed Curry. I am delighted with how well it works with Ballet Blue . I added a layer of Bazzill dotted swiss cardstock in a shade that I think blends well with the blue and curry.
My cupcake image (SG103 -- It's Your Day) was stamped on PTI select white, colored with Copic markers and embellished with gold glitter. I punched out my image with a Marvy punch and layered it on various sizes and colors of scallop circles. I added a piece of MS white twill and this card was done. What would we ever do without punches and Nesties?
Have a super Sunday and thanks for stopping by today!
Supplies: Stamps - Shirley's 2 Girls - It's Your Day (SG103); Paper - SU! crushed curry & ballet blue, PTI select white, Bazzill Dotted Swiss DP; Ink - Versafine onyx black and Copic markers for coloring; Accessories - SU! corner punch & scallop circle punch, 2 sizes of Marvy scallop circles punches, Nestabilities scallop circle die, Stampendous gold diamond dots, dimensionals and MS twill.
